The Kremlin is concerned about the unpredictability of the US sanctions. This, according to Interfax, was announced by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“The Kremlin is certainly concerned, because the sanctions behavior of the United States is completely unpredictable. The United States maintains its international unpredictability in this regard. There are plans, plans for hedging risks and minimizing the consequences of such unpredictable actions,” he said.
Earlier, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the US government had prepared sanctions lists of representatives of the Russian elites and their families in case of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Meanwhile, White House National Security Council (NSC) officer Peter Harrell announced that the new anti-Russian sanctions, which could be imposed by the United States in the event of an aggravation of the situation around Ukraine, are aimed at reducing the industrial potential of the Russian Federation and damaging the economy.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the exclusion of Russia from the SWIFT system and the shutdown of Nord Stream 2 are among the possible sanctions that the EU is considering to apply in the event of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
