162 campuses with infrastructure damage will not receive students in face-to-face classes; Ministry will implement contingency plan

In the national territory there are 162 educational institutions that, due to infrastructure damage, will not be able to receive students in face-to-face classes. These are facilities that, due to lack of maintenance or damage caused by rains or natural disasters, are not currently in a position to be used.

This was stated this Wednesday by the Minister of Education, María Brown, during the session of the national Emergency Operations Committee (COE), in which new provisions were announced in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These are the institutions where the contingency plans will be implemented and specific plans will be designed to guarantee the continuity of the education of the enrolled students,” explained the Secretary of State.

He added that as of this Wednesday, an option will be enabled on the website of the Ministry of Education for citizens to know what the institutions are and in what city and province they are located.

– 7 in Zone 4 (Manabí and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas)

– 67 in Zone 5 (Bolívar, Los Ríos, Santa Elena, Galápagos and Guayas except Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón)

– 3 in Zone 6 (Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago)

– 14 in Zone 7 (El Oro, Loja, Zamora Chinchipe)

– 30 in Zone 8 (Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón)
