The Perseverance rover returned to collecting samples of Martian soil after cleaning up the drilling rig. It is reported by 3DNews with reference to Space.
The crater where the rover landed and collects soil samples is believed to be the site of a former reservoir into which the Martian river flowed. In this place are sedimentary rocks, which should contain traces of ancient biological life on Mars, if it was there.
The publication specifies that the samples will be captured by the return platform, decontaminated from the outside and sealed in a block for dropping to Earth.
Earlier it was reported that the salt deposits of Mars were found in depressions on the volcanic plains, which in ancient times were shallow lakes.
TASS reported that the French seismometer SEIS, installed on the InSight apparatus, which landed on the planet in 2018, recorded 174 shocks in the first six months of observations, which confirmed that the bowels of the planet are still seismically active.
