TV presenter and physician Alexander Myasnikov commented on the widespread belief that with flu and colds, vitamin C must be taken.

The head physician of the Moscow hospital No. 71 doubted the magical properties of the vitamin. “We know that there are works that say that yes, vitamin C — take it, don’t take it for prevention — does not prevent the disease,” the doctor said on the air of the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

At the same time, large doses of vitamin C can shorten the period of the disease, the TV presenter noted, citing data from a number of scientific papers. In this regard, Myasnikov advises taking the supplement for a cold for three to four days. According to him, “it will not get worse.” “If you are prudent, for a short time. Suddenly it will be better. But is it necessary to take it – no, it’s definitely not necessary, ”he concluded.

Earlier, doctor Myasnikov urged Russians not to besiege polyclinics and be treated for “omicron” at home at temperatures up to 38 degrees, just “drink some tea with jam and take a break from the hustle and bustle.”
