Italian actress Ornella Muti said she would like to become a Russian citizen and considers Russian culture to be part of her own. She told TASS about this.

“It would be nice for me to get citizenship, because it is part of my mother-related culture. She died this year, and this would be a gift for her, ”admitted the actress.

According to her, she is gradually collecting the necessary documents, but much rests on the complexity of the Italian bureaucracy. Muti also said that she has been studying Russian for a long time, but so far she has not been able to speak fluently.

Recall that in 2008, Muti was in the zone of attention of the tax police. The Forum agency wrote that the actress was fined 2.3 million euros. The media indicated that in 1994 Muti became a resident of Monte Carlo, “so as not to pay taxes in Italy.”

“However, according to the tax authorities, she continued to permanently reside in Rome, where her children live. The clue for the tax police was, in particular, the fact that she had hired a nurse. After that, Muti was presented with tax claims from 1995 to 2000, ”the article said.

The name of Ornella Muti also “lit up” in another “tax” scandal. In the spring of 2020, the media wrote that the Federal Tax Service of Russia was looking for Ornella Muti’s fiancé for an arrears of 1 million rubles. It was about Fabrice Kererve.

As Mash wrote, the man was engaged in network marketing, jewelry and perfumery, and also in construction: his company I-Innovation Culture worked in Russia. It was alleged that the company owed the Federal Tax Service 1 million rubles in arrears. As a result, 10 company accounts in various banks were frozen.

In 2017, the Italian actress received a suspended sentence on charges of attempted fraud and forgery. Muti was sentenced to six months in prison and fined 500 euros. According to the court, on December 10, 2010, the actress did not appear at her performance. Muti later provided a fake medical certificate exempting her from work. According to the artist herself, she fell ill with laryngopharyngitis and could not strain her vocal cords.

However, on the same day, she was spotted at a dinner in St. Petersburg, where the then Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was also present. The administration of the Verdi Theater in Pordenone (Italy) filed a lawsuit against her, according to which Muti is obliged to pay a penalty in the amount of 30 thousand euros.

In February 2015, the court of first instance sentenced the artist to eight months in prison and a fine of 600 euros. The decision to commute the sentence was made in July 2017.

We add that Muti spoke about her desire to obtain Russian citizenship in 2018. Then she stated that she had “an area in Russia” and a Moscow residence permit, but no Russian passport.

Earlier, Uruguayan actress and singer Natalia Oreiro received Russian citizenship.

As Mir Novostei wrote, artist Nikas Safronov, who helps Ornelle Muti with Russian citizenship, said that many stars “are really attracted to our” soft “taxes.”

“And also the fact that if you accidentally violated something somewhere, then you will not be punished as severely as they do in Europe and America. The same Ornella Muti had problems in her homeland because of taxes. As well as Sophia Loren and Alain Delon… We are somehow calmer about tax arrears. They give you the opportunity to correct the mistake,” he said.
