The head of Tesla and SpaceX, entrepreneur Elon Musk, blocked 19-year-old student Jack Sweeney on social networks, who tracked the movements of a businessman’s personal plane and asked for $50,000 to stop surveillance, writes Bloomberg.
As Sweeney himself told the agency, he created a Twitter account where, using a bot, he tracked the movements of the billionaire’s personal plane. The student described himself as a “SpaceX and Tesla fan” and stated that the bot was supposed to “help understand where Musk is going and what he is doing.”
According to the young man, in November last year, Musk himself contacted him and offered $ 5,000 to disable the account, because he feared for his safety. In response, Sweeney asked for $50,000, explaining that he wanted to pay for education or buy a Tesla Model 3 car. Musk refused to pay, and on January 31 he blocked the young man in all social networks.
As the student told the agency, he spent “so much time and effort” that $ 5,000 “is not enough to make him quit.” He also expressed hope that Musk would return to “negotiations.”
In addition, the young man also launched his own “business” of tracking the planes of other famous figures, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
