The Ecuadorian researcher has received various awards for her dedicated career in research and community service.
The Ecuadorian scientist Eugenia del Pino was recognized with the 2022 Society for Developmental Biology (SBD) Lifetime Achievement Award for her invaluable study of marsupial frogs in the country. This makes her the first Latin American to win this award in a list of 20 world-renowned scientists.
Del Pino, who has a doctorate in biology, was chosen by the news network BBC as one of the 10 most outstanding scientists in Latin America. His contribution on the biology of the development of a typical marsupial frog from Ecuador, in comparison with other tropical frogs, stands out.

She graduated from the Education Sciences career at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. He then won a scholarship to study for a master’s degree and a doctorate in the United States. And he returned to Ecuador to teach at that university and investigate amphibians.
Throughout her career as a scientific researcher, she has received several awards. In 2006, the United States National Academy of Sciences was elected a member. In 2000, she received the L’OrĂ©al-UNESCO Prize for Women in Science. In 2019 he received the Latin American Society for Developmental Biology (LASDB) Award in recognition of his important contributions to scientific research in Ecuador and, in general, for promoting Developmental Biology in Latin America.
