Oppositionist Ilya Yashin believes that the authorities in Russia are creating an atmosphere of fear and control by introducing the so-called “fan IDs” (Fan ID). He shared his opinion in an interview with Sports.ru.
According to the deputy of the metropolitan municipal district Krasnoselsky, the introduction of Fan ID “allows you to create a separate database where personal data is collected.” “If you have it, you always know how to put pressure on a person, where to find him. This facilitates the work of the police and special services in terms of personal control,” Yashin is convinced.
At the same time, he noted, “for any normal person, if he is not professionally involved in politics, getting into such peculiar state bases is very uncomfortable.” “It’s like a ‘black mark,’” the politician explained, adding that “the authorities deliberately create this atmosphere.”
In Yashin’s opinion, Russia has “quite deep traditions of pressure and repression.” “Even at the genetic level, young people understand how, even without such a technical arsenal, the state fought dissent quite effectively,” the politician believes.
Earlier, the head of the legal department of the Moscow Police Trade Union, Igor Grishakov, warned that Russian football fans, dissatisfied with the introduction of “fan IDs” (Fan ID), would stage protests.
Recall that the law on the introduction of “fan passports” was adopted by the State Duma on December 17, later supported by the Federation Council and signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 30. The provisions of the law will come into force on June 1, 2022.
On January 25, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that a dialogue with fan associations is needed on the issue of Fan ID.
Meanwhile, the Leningrad group of Sergei Shnurov released a new song dedicated to the fan passports that they want to introduce in Russia. Subscribers in the comments rejoiced that the musician “activated” and released clip after clip.
