Two prison guides from the Manabí Social Rehabilitation Center No. 3, located in Bahía de Caráquez, were shot while driving in a vehicle on the San Vicente-Chone road, in the north of Manabí.
The attack was reported this Sunday, January 30, around 08:30, in the Barquero sector of the San Antonio parish, belonging to the Chone canton.
One of the guides, identified as Luis Arturo Montesdeoca Álvarez, 39, died at the site as a result of several bullet wounds he received in the body and his co-worker, Martha Zambrano Villaprado, 37, was injured. .
According to the first investigations carried out by the police who went to the place, after completing their duties in Bahía de Caráquez, both prison guides from the prison of that Manabi town were traveling in a vehicle towards Chone when they were apparently intercepted by subjects aboard a motorcycle, who shot at them repeatedly.
The Police confirmed that Montesdeoca died on the spot and Zambrano was seriously injured, for which she had to be transferred to a hospital in Chone for immediate attention.
Members of the National Directorate of Crimes against Life, Disappearances, Extortion and Kidnapping (Dinased), as well as agents from other units, participated in the removal of the body after receiving authorization from the prosecutor on duty.
The body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Sciences in Manta. (I)
