An outstanding actor Leonid Kuravlev passed away at the age of 86.
The artist was admitted to hospital No. 40 in Kommunarka in early January, was treated for pneumonia. He was brought to the medical facility on January 5 with suspected coronavirus. However, the tests he took on January 6 and 9 came back negative. In addition, the doctors performed a gastrostomy on Kuravlyov, an emergency operation on the stomach.
The last days the legendary artist spent in the Millionshchikova Hospice in Moscow, where the doctors sent him after an infection.
Leonid Kuravlev was born on October 8, 1936 in Moscow. In 1953, he first tried to enter VGIK, but did not go to the university and got a job in the Moscow artel “Optic”. The next attempt took place in 1955 – this time he successfully passed the exams and became a student in the acting department of VGIK. He made his film debut as a student, playing a soldier-sapper Morozov in the film by Andrei Tarkovsky and Alexander Gordon “Today there will be no dismissal …” (1958).
Kuravlev is known to the general public for his roles in the films Afonya, Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession, The Most Charming and Attractive, The Golden Calf, The Life and Amazing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Seventeen Moments of Spring, Look for a Woman and many other Soviet and Russian films.
