Barcelona (EFE).- The Casa Batlló in Barcelona (Spain), emblematic building of the modernist architect Antoni Gaudí, has been chosen as the best monument in the world 2021 by the Tiqets ticket platform, ahead of the Tower of London, the Duomo of Milan or the Empire State Building in New York.
In addition to Casa Batlló, in this classification prepared by Tiqets, the Velázquez Tech Museum in Madrid, an immersive experience in art through Velázquez and his meninas, has been chosen best hidden treasure.
The remaining six world winners in other categories chosen by Tiqets users are:
- Best museum: Marmottan Monet Museum (France)
- Most prominent place: Vatican Museums (Italy)
- best experience in situ: Windsor Castle (UK)
- Best attraction: Catacombs of San Gennaro (Italy)
- Most innovative place: Paris Montparnasse Top of the City (Francia)
This award distinguishes the cathedrals, castles, palaces and historical or iconic monuments best valued by Tiqets users.
Casa Batlló has presented this year a new museum proposal with 2,000 more square meters, two new immersive rooms: Gaudi Dome, a dome with more than 1,000 screens with the imagery that inspired Gaudí in his childhood; Y Gaudi Cube, a six-sided cube of LED screens unique in the world that allows the visitor to travel to the mind of Gaudí thanks to the work of the guest artist Refik Anadol.
