Men were repelled by bullets after trying to rob a vehicle on Av. Orellana, in the north of Guayaquil

In the middle of the rain, three antisocials who tried to assault the occupants of a vehicle that was traveling on the Francisco de Orellana road were shot back.

A video was broadcast on social networks on the night of this Friday, January 28.

In the images, the three men are seen waiting in the central parterre of the Orellana road and, noticing the traffic congestion, they run towards one of the lanes to intimidate the occupants of a Kia Sportage car in order to take their belongings.

After several seconds, amid threats from the criminals, the car leaves the scene and immediately the antisocials cross the street into the opposite lane.

At that moment, the same subjects begin to be chased and attacked with bullets by two other people who presumably observed the robbery attempt and got out of another car.

According to preliminary data, one of the antisocials would have been injured and was treated at a nearby hospital.

The Police arrived at the site to investigate the circumstances of the incident and try to find the whereabouts of the other two accomplices. For now, the authorities have not confirmed whether the two subjects attacking the criminals were plainclothes police officers or citizens.

This type of assault has been reported on previous occasions on that same avenue, as well as others such as 25 de Julio, the Perimetral road and José María Egas, at the descent of the bridge that connects La Puntilla (Samborondón) with Sauces. Criminals take advantage of traffic congestion or red traffic lights to commit this type of crime. (I)
