At least five houses that were also used as commercial premises were affected by a fire registered this Thursday 21 in the sector of Pedro Vicente Maldonado streets between José Mejía and Juan Salinas, center of the city of Esmeraldas.
The structural fire occurred around 11:00, the ECU911 alerted the Esmeraldas Fire Department.
Two domestic gas cylinders exploded as fire crews tried to quell the flames.
“They are places of mixed and old construction that become easy to burn,” explained Miguel Perea, Esmeraldas’ first fire chief.
The homes also operated stores selling agricultural and miscellaneous products.
Technicians of the Fire Department will carry out the inspection to determine the causes that caused this mishap.
Meanwhile, a multiple short circuit caused the fire of cables of the electrical network in Libertad and Manabí streets, on the morning of this Thursday 21. (I)
