During a control carried out by Vice President Alfredo Borrero, along with other health authorities in Manabí hospitals, some 185,000 expired medications and others improperly stored were found.
In the Rafael Rodríguez Zambrano de Manta contingency hospital alone, 34,591 expired products were found, according to a statement issued by the Vice Presidency of the Republic, that is, more than 20% of all expired medicine in Manabi hospitals were detected in that hospital.
During the visit to the general hospital of the IESS in Manta, the second president found warehouses that do not comply with health regulations, as well as expired medicines, devices and supplies.

The vice president asked that urgent corrective measures be taken. The ARCSA Zonal Coordination 4 ordered the immediate withdrawal of expired products, and the highest authority of the agency issued recommendations to each hospital so that the proper handling of drugs and strict control in their dispensing be maintained.
The entourage that accompanied Vice President Borrero, -who toured several Manabi hospitals on Wednesday-, was also made up of the mayor of Manta, Agustín Intriago, and local authorities, since the rehabilitation of the Rafael Rodríguez Zambrano hospital was also analyzed, of which it was indicated which has a 67% progress of works.
