In relations between Ukraine and Germany, the “moment of truth” has come, which concerns a number of fundamental issues, including security. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated this on the ICTV channel on the air of the Freedom of Speech program. According to him, the “moment of truth” can be judged by evaluating such issues as Germany’s support for sanctions against Russia and agreement for Ukraine to purchase weapons through the NATO system.

“Germany has done a lot since 2014 for Ukraine, including to mobilize sanctions pressure, support Ukrainian reforms, the Ukrainian economy…,” Kuleba said. “We have entered the moment of truth on a number of fundamentally important issues for the security and future of Ukraine as an independent state and Euro-Atlantic security in general.”

The diplomat also clarified that an important aspect of relations between the two countries is the supply of weapons to Kiev: “There is a question of granting Germany permission to a third country to transfer weapons. There is the question of Germany’s consent to the purchase of weapons by Ukraine through the NATO system. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry believes that on these issues “there can be no talk at all about blocking something by Germany.”

Earlier, Kuleba said that Kiev would remember Berlin’s refusal to supply arms for decades, noting that the Ukrainian public was “disappointed.” He warned that Germany’s decision not to supply Ukrainians with weapons would affect relations between the two countries for the worse.
