Until February 18, Ecuadorians interested in studying in the United States will be able to apply for the Opportunity Funds program

Those selected are financed for the application process to American universities.

Approaching the opportunity to study at a university in the United States is what the United States Department of State is offering until February through its Opportunity Funds program.

This plan finances the admission process to a university in the United States.

The initiative is aimed at Ecuadorian students seeking undergraduate and postgraduate studies and who do not have financial resources, but do have a good academic record.

Some 9,200 scholarship holders who owe $64 million to the country will be able to take advantage of a payment plan

The application is open until February 18.

The program covers the costs of:

  • Preparation and registration of standardized tests required by institutions such as: TOEFL, SAT, GRE.
  • Transportation and local expenses (accommodation, food) to take standardized tests for students who live far from the test center.
  • Application fee required for each institution (application fee).
  • Administrative expenses (sending both national and international documentation).
  • Visa and SEVIS fee.
  • Translations and certifications.
  • Airfare to go to college.

Tuition and other fees are not included, as well as housing and food expenses. You must not have started your studies at the application level you are applying for.

The requirements to apply to the program are:

  • Proficiency in English.
  • Minimum average of 8.50 out of 10 or its equivalent.
  • Have a leadership profile, initiative and high motivation to study in the United States.
  • Be an Ecuadorian citizen.
  • Economic disadvantage.

For undergraduate students who are in the second and third years of high school may apply, while for postgraduates they have or are very close to their third level degree. It is not included in the undergraduate program in clinical areas and law, in the postgraduate program instead both areas and MBA.
