The case on the purchase of medical falsifications with the participation of the head of the Irkutsk Ministry of Health was brought to court

In the Irkutsk region, a criminal case was sent to the court on the purchase of counterfeit medical masks and respirators for 90 million rubles. According to investigators, the now former Minister of Health of the region Natalia Ledyaeva and her son took part in the theft.

They are charged under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale), paragraph “a” part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sale of falsified, unregistered medical devices).

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, from April to October 2020, Ledyaeva’s son and his assistants stole more than 90 million rubles by selling counterfeit medical masks and respirators to healthcare institutions in the Irkutsk region. Since June 2020, Natalia Ledyaeva, then Acting Minister of Health of the Irkutsk Region, also began to take part in the commission of these crimes.

The defendants pleaded not guilty. The volume of the criminal case amounted to 63 volumes.

The case was referred to the court for consideration on the merits.
