Dashi Ergys, the Albanian murdered in Guayaquil, was part of a drug gang, according to European media

In Europe, Ergys had a record for drug trafficking, sexual exploitation and possession of weapons.

Almost 24 hours after the crime of an Albanian citizen in a restaurant in the north of Guayaquil, the European media began to replicate the news and more details of Dashi Ergys, the foreigner who was shot in front of dozens of witnesses the night of the attack, came to light. Saturday January 22.

Although in Ecuador he had no record and was not part of any police investigation, in Europe he had a long history.

It is known that Ergys was one of the leaders of a gang from Albania, dedicated to drug trafficking in the Old Continent.

According to European media, the criminal organization bought large amounts of drugs in Albania, Spain and Bolivia, and then distributed them throughout Italy.

The gang in question earned millions of euros from these operations until September 2014, when the Albanian was arrested in Italy along with 31 other people. Dashi was then 25 years old and lived in a port area in Italy, where he received contaminated cargo arriving from abroad.

Dashi had charges in Europe for drug trafficking, sexual exploitation and possession of weapons.

According to the journalist Klodiana Lala, there are about 3,000 Albanians living in Ecuador and many of them would be involved in drug trafficking.

The journalist provided other details on her television program. He mentioned that there are many of his compatriots who stay in Ecuador as collateral or hostages of individuals who have sent drugs to the destination. Several have been killed in recent years.

“The moment the shipment does not reach its destination, we have a murder,” added the journalist.

According to her, Ergys Dashi was operational for the delivery of drugs, but she clarifies that none of those killed in Ecuador turns out to be a group leader. The leaders, indicates the journalist, would be located mostly in Dubai.

Another Albanian murdered in Ecuador

In November 2020, Adriatik Tresa, a 45-year-old Albanian, was murdered at his home in the Bali housing estate in Daule. Several men disguised as policemen entered the residential complex at dawn and riddled the foreigner. Tresa was part of a previous investigation for organized crime carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Unit.

The Albanian was imprisoned for possession and carrying of weapons, but was dismissed; and in 2013 the Prosecutor’s Office investigated him for money laundering. (I)
