The ambassador of Ukraine in Germany felt that the resignation of the head of the German Navy after his words about Crimea was not enough

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk believes that the resignation of the commander of the German Naval Forces (Navy) Vice Admiral Kai-Achim Schönbach is not enough to restore confidence in German politics. The diplomat stated this on his Twitter account.

Earlier, speaking in India, Schönbach said that Crimea (joined by Russia in 2014 following a referendum) would never return to Ukraine: “The Crimean peninsula is gone, it will not return.” But after these statements, the head of the Navy asked to be relieved of his duties, and the resignation was accepted. At the same time, the Vice Admiral expressed regret, pointing out that his point of view on the ownership of Crimea reflects his personal opinion, and not the official position of the German government.

“German arrogance and megalomania. While Ukraine welcomes the timely resignation of German Navy Commander Kai-Achim Schönbach, this move is not enough to restore full confidence in German politics. The German government must change course with regard to Kiev,” Melnyk said.

We also note that the former commander of the German Navy was included in the database of the Ukrainian “Peacemaker”, reports “Lenta.ru”.

“Peacemaker” is a website that contains personal data of opposition Ukrainian politicians, Russian military personnel who participated in the operation in Syria, journalists from Russian and world media, and other citizens of both Ukraine and other countries “posing a threat to the national security of Ukraine.” At various times, such dissimilar personalities as the Ukrainian journalist Oles Buzina, who was killed in 2015, and the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, were listed on the Peacemaker website.

And recently, the former adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich landed in the “Peacemaker” base for participating in “acts of humanitarian aggression” against Ukraine. However, this happened shortly after the news that Arestovich left his post.
