The COE announced voluntary attendance in classrooms from this Monday and more capacity in workplaces

It will be according to traffic lights. In red only 30% goes to work. Yellow, 50% attendance.

The national COE approved on the afternoon of this Saturday 22 a greater face-to-face opening of the national education system from this Monday.

Thus, attendance at face-to-face education will be voluntary for the time being. That is to say, families will have the last word and it will be according to the existing health traffic lights in each canton of the country (green, yellow and red as established in Ecuador), clarified the Minister of Education María Brown.

According to the health traffic lights presented this afternoon, 29 cantons are green, 179 cantons are yellow, and 13 cantons are red. The latter correspond to the provinces of Azuay, Cañar, Chimborazo, Guayas and Esmeraldas, which register more infections at the moment.

Labor Minister Patricio Donoso assured that the national COE makes decisions responsibly and cares for the lives of the family and co-workers.

For this reason, in the cantons that are at a red light, only 30% capacity will be allowed to have face-to-face work and teleworking will be privileged, Donoso explained.

While the cantons with a green traffic light will have 25% telecommuting and 75% will go to work in person. In the cantons that are in yellow, 50% face-to-face and 50% teleworking will be allowed, he noted.

The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, assured that Ecuador maintains a downward trend in terms of COVID-19 infections. He pointed out, for example, that there are 10,000 fewer confirmed cases in this third epidemiological week compared to the second week.

This trend is expected to continue for the next three weeks, it was added.

The Minister of Health stated that the epidemiological conditions will improve in the coming weeks.

The number of attentions is going down and there is already a better reality in the provinces of the Coast compared to that of the Sierra.

This is due to the fact that the ómicron variant initially affected the Ecuadorian coast and then spread to the Sierra, added the official.

After the announced measures, the COE of Quito, for example, called a session for this Monday 24. (I)
