The Ministry of Sports of Ukraine does not recommend that compatriots who will be part of the Olympic team take pictures with Russian colleagues and give interviews in Russian. It is reported by “Match TV”.
The reason for the recommendations was allegedly last year’s scandal with the bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Yaroslava Maguchikh, who was photographed with the Russian athlete Maria Lasitskene, was sharply criticized for this and was even called for a conversation at the country’s Ministry of Defense. Yaroslava herself claimed that she simply wanted to congratulate the Russian athlete on her victory and did not think about politics at that moment.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Chinese leader Xi Jinping could have asked Vladimir Putin to postpone a hypothetical invasion of Ukraine until the end of the Olympic Games, and that later this attack, the possibility of which the world media has been discussing for three months, may not take place due to spring thaws.
