Russia will allocate $2 million (154 million rubles) for the development of the school feeding system in Tajikistan. It is reported by Sputnik.
According to the agency, this money will be used to purchase hot meals for about 2,000 schools in the country.
Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov stressed that “taking care of the younger generation of friendly Tajikistan” is one of the priorities. The food aid program helps to provide children with healthy nutrition, which contributes to their healthy growth and development, he added.
According to the ambassador, since 2013 Russia has sent more than $82 million (6.3 billion rubles) to school meals in Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, in the Russian regions often complain about the poor quality of school meals.
So, in the Kemerovo region, a criminal case was initiated on the supply of a surrogate product under the guise of butter to school canteens.
In Murmansk, parents of schoolchildren expressed their dissatisfaction with the increase in food fees.
Near Orenburg, a student who complained about poor-quality food in the canteen was completely expelled from school. The girl, in particular, refused to eat an omelette because it was raw.
In Chuvashia, in one of the schools, children in the canteen were offered tiny portions of cucumber and tomato salad. The portion consisted of incomplete quarters of a tomato and a circle of cucumber. The school website stated that the weight of the salad was 31 grams. Social media users, however, doubted that the proposed salad has this weight.
