The Sverdlovsk District Court of Kostroma convicted three police officers in a case of abuse of detainees.

According to the court and the investigation, in March 2020, two police officers detained local residents, took them to the department and forced them to undress. The police demanded to remove a prohibited item from one of the detainees. According to Kostroma.Today, it was a pectoral cross. The man refused and began to resist, and the second detainee stood up for him.

Then, according to the court, three policemen first immobilized the detainees and then started beating them, including kicking them.

Two law enforcement officers did not admit their guilt, and the third admitted. Those who did not admit guilt were given 3 years in a penal colony. The third, who repented, received a year in a general regime penal colony.

Also, all three were banned from holding positions in the public service and in local governments for 2 years.
