Croatia intends to fully adopt the euro from January 1, 2023

The Croatian authorities expect that the country will completely switch to the euro from January 1, 2023. According to Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, the authorities expect that by the end of the first quarter of 2022 they will fulfill all the conditions for the introduction of the euro in the country.

According to him, according to RIA Novosti, the final decision at the EU level is expected in the middle of this year. And the final approval is after the end of the tourist season. Prices in two currencies will be from September this year. A full transition – January 1, 2023, described the procedure Plenkovich.

He added that after the transition to the euro, a 14-day period is planned when the national currency kuna will continue to be used in the country. Then Croats will be able to exchange it for euros in banks and at the post office until January 1, 2024, and in the National Bank of Croatia – for an unlimited time.

Recall that currently in Croatia the national currency is the kuna. The rate fluctuates around 7.5 kunas for 1 euro.
