On the Chone – San Vicente road, Jorge Lucas was shot by three individuals. In a neighborhood of tolerance in Cuenca, a citizen was shot several times.
The wave of violence continues nationwide. Two subjects were murdered between the afternoon and night of this Thursday the 20th in the provinces of Manabí and Azuay.
Around 2:00 p.m., Jorge Luis Lucas Lucas, 35, was gunned down in the El Quemadito sector, at kilometer 30 of the Chone – San Vicente road.
According to witness accounts, four subjects arrived at the site on two motorcycles. Three of them got out and entered Lucas’s home, located about 30 meters from the main road, and shot him several times.
Neighbors reported hearing at least seven shots. Immediately, the subjects left on their motorcycles bound for San Vicente.
After 5:00 p.m., agents from Criminalistics and the National Directorate of Violent Deaths (Dinased) arrived at the site to collect evidence. The prosecutor on duty authorized the removal of the body, which was transferred to the Manta Forensic Center.
Juan Carlos Ruales, head of the Directorate of Violent Deaths (Dinased) in Manabí, indicated that the attackers had supposedly left a note that said: ‘This happens to toads…’.
It was indicated that Lucas had three criminal records.
Neighbors of the sector indicated that Lucas was a native of El Quemadito but that he had been living in Machala for several years, from where he had arrived in recent weeks.
Murder in Cuenca
On the night of this Thursday the 20th, a man of approximately 30 years was shot to death. According to preliminary investigations, the victim was shot twice while driving down Cayambe Street, in the neighborhood of the same name, also known as the Tolerance Zone, where the brothels are located.
The incident was recorded around 8:30 p.m., while the victim was driving a black vehicle with GSH-2086 license plates. Witnesses indicated that the car was intercepted by a motorcycle from where its occupants fired at the driver’s door.

Three holes apparently produced by bullets were found in the window of the car.
A woman accompanying the citizen was unharmed after the attack. She gave her version to police officers on site.
Around 9:30 p.m., the prosecutor on duty arrived at the site to carry out the removal of the body, which was taken to the Forensic Center. At the site they will perform the necropsy of law to determine the exact reasons for the death.
The Cayambe neighborhood, located in the north of the city, is known for being a red zone, where in addition to brothels, drug sales and violent acts are a constant. (I)
