Armed Forces personnel found supplies for military use in a rest base used by illegal armed groups in a town of Mataje, on the northern border of Esmeraldas.

The discovery was made around noon on Thursday the 20th during a reconnaissance patrol by members of the Motorized Infantry Battalion (Bimot – 13), in the Corriente Larga sector, belonging to the Mataje parish, located in the San Lorenzo canton.

A wooden house was found in the area, which was apparently used as a resting place for irregular groups from Colombia.

About five people would have been in that house and when fleeing they fired shots during the military incursion, without reporting deaths or injuries.
