The Pervomaisky District Court of Vladivostok issued a sentence to the head of the crematorium of the municipal enterprise “Necropolis”, which was involved in the case of bribery on an especially large scale. This was reported by the Interfax agency. As follows from the materials of the investigation, the defendant contributed to the transfer of a bribe in the amount of 4.7 million rubles, which was intended for the head of the cemeteries of the Necropolis enterprise.
The bribe was intended for obtaining permits to install more than 200 burial molds and allocate burial sites without presenting death certificates.
The court found the person involved in the case guilty and fined him 1.5 million rubles. The prosecutor’s office considers this sentence too lenient and will try to challenge it.
The former mayor of Vladivostok, Oleg Gumenyuk, who resigned in May 2021, is also involved in the Necropolis case. According to investigators, from 2019 to 2021 Gumenyuk received bribes both directly from the management of Necropolis and through intermediaries for general patronage in the provision of funeral services. This “patronage” enriched him by 19.5 million rubles.
