Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, in an interview with the BBC, called on the West to impose preemptive sanctions against Russia in order to prevent the latter’s “aggression” against Ukraine.

“The United States and the United Kingdom, together with European partners, could do more for our (Ukraine – ed.) Defense. In the economic sphere, sanctions, for example, that could be introduced before the invasion, and not after, ”Korrespondent.net quotes the minister.

He is convinced that the leaders of the European Union, the US and the UK must show the Kremlin that “this invasion will come at a cost.”

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged US senators who recently visited Kiev not to wait for an allegedly possible escalation from Russia to impose sanctions against it, but to introduce restrictions now, RIA Novosti reports.

We also recall that in November-December last year, the world media was filled with the topic of the alleged Russian invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions that should follow. According to the authors and experts of these publications, a sign of “invasion” is the concentration of Russian military equipment in the regions bordering Ukraine. Among the likely sanctions are both the shutdown of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, as well as restrictions against Russian energy companies, and the shutdown of the SWIFT system of “fast” financial settlements.
