The policeman who died preventing an assault in Samanes was buried in the presence of several authorities

Daniel Laaz died in the police hospital after being shot twice in the chest while eating with his family.

Freddy Daniel Laaz Vélez, the 39-year-old National Police officer who was killed by a criminal on Tuesday, was buried at noon this Thursday in the Patrimonial cemetery of Guayaquil.

The religious service was attended by the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso; the governor of Guayas, Pablo Arosemena; the Commander of Zone 8, Fausto Buenaño, and the Commander General of the Police, Tannya Varela.

The only one who gave statements at the end of the funeral was Varela, who mentioned that the agent was part of the Special Mobile Antinarcotics Group (GEMA). He indicated that they are looking for the others involved in the assault that occurred in a restaurant on Samanes 5, where Laaz was with his family. One of the robbers also died in the confrontation.

Varela also took the opportunity to refer to the changes to the legal body to facilitate police work.
