Deputy head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Vladimir Tokarev was detained on suspicion of major fraud and corruption, TASS and Interfax report, citing their sources.
RBC, citing its sources, writes that Valentin Ivanov, deputy head of the construction department, can replace Tokarev as deputy minister.
Recall that earlier it became known about the detention of Tokarev. A source in one of the railway operators confirmed the information, another said that documents were seized in the building of the Ministry of Transport. At the same time, it is known that Tokarev wrote a letter of resignation before the New Year and has not appeared at the Ministry of Transport since then.
Another source says that the criminal case against Tokarev is not related to his work in the Ministry of Transport and refers to the period when he served as deputy head of Spetstransstroy LLC. Earlier, the possible resignation of Tokarev due to the situation with the bankruptcy of Spetstransstroy LLC, one of the largest contractors of Russian Railways, was written by the Telegram channel “Insidious Track”. In turn, the Mash Telegram channel writes that Tokarev is suspected of causing damage in the amount of 1.5 billion rubles.
Tokarev was the first deputy head of Spetstransstroy from 2016 to 2018. In November, searches were reported in the structures of the former head of the company and ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Construction, Yuri Reilyan. An RBC source close to law enforcement agencies said that businessman Reilyan was detained at the end of October 2021, also on charges of fraud on an especially large scale. Reilyan was later arrested and sent to Irkutsk to participate in investigative actions.
