The symptoms of a new strain of coronavirus “omicron” are similar to the classic manifestation of SARS. This was reported to TASS by the chief infectious disease specialist of the Moscow Department of Health Svetlana Smetanina. In this regard, she advises Russians at the first sign of “omicron” to take antipyretic and antiviral drugs, as well as drink plenty of fluids.

According to her, the onset of the disease is usually accompanied by intoxication and high fever, headache and muscle pain. The specialist warned that it is necessary to consult a doctor if the temperature is above 38 degrees for more than three days and medications do not help.

Smetanina also recommends antivirals with a broad spectrum of activity, such as umifenovir. “It prevents the interaction of the virus with the cells of the body,” the infectious disease specialist explained.

Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, told in whom “omicron” can cause a severe course of the disease. In turn, TV presenter and doctor Alexander Myasnikov gave advice on how to treat Omicron at home.
