The Russian Foreign Ministry denied media reports that diplomats from Russia are preparing to leave Ukraine. This is reported by TASS with reference to the information of the Russian diplomatic department.

“The Russian Embassy in Kiev is working as usual,” the message says.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that about 30 employees from the Russian Federation will leave the consulates in Kiev and Lviv in the near future. It was clarified that 18 people – mostly children and wives of Russian diplomats – left Ukraine on January 5.

Prior to this, the world media was filled with the topic of the alleged Russian “invasion” of Ukraine and the sanctions that should follow. In Moscow, this information has been repeatedly refuted.

Earlier it was reported that Russia was expelling two employees of the German embassy. This is a response to a similar step taken by Berlin in connection with the verdict in the Tiergarten murder case, for which a court in Berlin on December 15 sentenced Russian citizen Vadim Krasikov to life imprisonment. He arrived in Berlin on forged documents and on August 23, 2019, shot dead Zelimkhan Khangoshvili in the Tiergarten park. The court ruled that the Russian acted on the orders of the Russian authorities and was an employee of the state security services. The Kremlin said that Moscow categorically disagrees with the conclusion made by the Berlin court as part of the investigation into the murder of Khangoshvili.
