In the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. the President is expected to render his version of the Pandora Papers before the Guarantees Commission that investigates the case.
María De Lourdes Alcívar and Santiago Xavier Lasso, wife and son of the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, will not attend the invitation made by the Constitutional Guarantees Commission of the National Assembly for this October 20, within the investigation initiated on Pandora papers. But they delegate their lawyer.
In a letter signed by Alcívar and Lasso, they point out that not being public officials, they are not obliged to attend the invitation made by the commission to provide information in relation to the investigation called pandora papers, and the presumed link with it of the Chief Executive of the Ecuador.
This afternoon at 3:00 p.m., the Commission awaits the appearance of the Chief Executive in the room of former presidents of the National Assembly to render his version on the pandora paperps, which is a leak of files on registration and administration of companies and trusts in tax havens, where Guillermo Lasso Mendoza is mentioned.
Guillermo Lasso’s version of Pandora Papers is expected in the Assembly, his wife and son will not attend because they are not public officials
The justification signed by the First Lady and her son, for not attending the invitation made by the commission investigating the case, is based on the provisions of articles 120, numeral 9 of the Constitution and 75 of the Organic Law of the Legislative Function where it is determined that the National Assembly will have powers to supervise public officials.
However, despite the fact that in the letter of invitation to render his version on Pandora Papers, for no apparent reason it is stated that it cannot be delegated, the two relatives of the Head of State say they are willing for his lawyer Eduardo Carmigniani Valencia to appear in his name if the commission deems it appropriate, for which any day of the next week must be indicated.
The Constitutional Guarantees Commission, chaired by José Cabascango, plans to set up this October 20 from 09:00 to receive Roger Arosemena Benítez, Jaime Durán Barba, Arturo Serrano Salgado, Miguel Macías Yerovia and Euvenia Touriz Mawyin. (I)
