In Russia, a coronavirus vaccine based on several strains of the virus may appear. Denis Logunov, deputy director of the Gamaleya Center, said this on air on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

“The option is being considered and discussed to make such a polyvalent Sputnik, where there will be both Delta and Omicron, or Wuhan and Omicron … It is possible to create such a more complex vaccine,” he said.

Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, said that there is no need to modify the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine for the Omicron strain.

According to the latest information, 29,230 people were confirmed to have coronavirus in Russia per day — the increase in the number of cases was the highest since December 13, 2021. Thus, the number of patients with the pandemic reached 10 million 803 thousand 534.
