Families take advantage of the weekend to apply a booster dose against COVID-19

In Guayaquil, Samborondón and Durán, 18 vaccination points were set up this weekend.

The vaccination centers enabled this weekend to apply the first, second and booster doses against COVID-19 receive dozens of families seeking to be inoculated.

Although the assistance is not massive as in previous weeks, in some provinces parents with children and older adults who are going for their third dose have been seen.

In the first two weeks of this month, Ecuador has reported an increase in cases, which is linked to the contagion power of the omicron variant.

For this weekend, 18 vaccination points were set up in sectors of Guayaquil, Samborondón and Durán. At the Cristóbal Colón school, in the south of Guayaquil, there were dozens of people who came from citadels and neighborhoods in the south and center. There were young and old there.

The same thing happened at the points enabled in the city’s land terminals. At the Pascuales terminal, several parents took their little ones to be vaccinated. Workers from companies in the sector also took the opportunity to apply the missing doses.

In the provinces there was also movement in the vaccination centers. In Loja, people went to vaccination centers over the weekend. Children, youth and adults were treated by personnel from the Ministry of Health who settled in the Benjamín Carrión national theater, in the Ciudad de Loja coliseum.

Doctors, nurses and rotating interns from the Ministry of Health participated, as well as personnel from the Armed Forces. In addition, the influenza vaccine was placed. “We hope that citizens come to receive the vaccines that we have and we aspire to vaccinate no less than 600 people per day,” said Ángel Acaro, head of the Benjamín Carrión national theater vaccination center, who added that at times the number of people decreased.

In Quito, the Vice President of the Republic, Alfredo Borrero, toured the vaccination point installed in the coliseum of the Central University of Ecuador.

Borrero emphasized that “the vaccine frees one from having a serious illness and from dying. The vaccine lightens the load, improves the clinical picture of the patient and frees him from death. What we as a government want is for them to put their shoulder to us, and we put the vaccine “.

Regarding the return to face-to-face classes, the vice president pointed out that the decision is absolutely technical, and that the provincial and national COE will make the appropriate decision, based on taking care of people’s lives.

In the place, the second president applied doses to several people who were present at the vaccination, including minors. In addition, he announced that next week he will be fulfilling his agenda in Loja. (I)
