Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin warned of an impending deterioration in the situation with coronavirus due to “omicron”.

According to him, up to 6-7 thousand people will fall ill every day in the capital in the coming days. “According to the laboratory data, we see that today, unfortunately, Omicron is starting to dominate among coronavirus patients. This is such a serious signal that we will see a serious increase in the incidence in the coming days,” the mayor said during a visit to the diagnostic laboratory research center on Varshavskoe shosse.

Sobyanin predicts that “tomorrow we will see official data, the increase in detection will be approximately at the level of six to seven thousand people.” At the same time, he noted that next week the increase in the incidence of covid will continue.

In this regard, he urged Muscovites to be careful and take care. “This is especially true for the elderly, people with chronic diseases, who must protect themselves from unnecessary contacts, comply with the requirements prescribed by Rospotrebnadzor,” the mayor concluded.

Recall that earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova said that 698 cases of Omicron infection were officially registered in the country. Head of the Center Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg stated that up to 30% of all cases of coronavirus in Moscow occur in Omicron.

The other day, Sobyanin also warned Muscovites that a significant increase in the incidence of covid due to “omicron” is expected in the capital over the next 7-10 days.
