Sputnik: Boris Gryzlov approved as Russian Ambassador to Belarus

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has agreed on the candidacy of Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party, for the post of Russian Ambassador to Belarus. This is reported by the Sputnik Belarus agency, citing its sources.

Boris Gryzlov is currently Chairman of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian Federation in the Contact Group for Settling the Situation in Ukraine, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tactical Missiles Corporation JSC.

From March 2001 to December 2003 he was Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation. From March 2001 to April 2016, he was a permanent member of the Russian Security Council. Since 2002, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the United Russia party.

In December 2003 he was elected to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the fourth convocation, in December 2007 – the fifth convocation. Chairman of the State Duma, head of the United Russia faction of the fourth and fifth convocations.

From November 2004 to April 2008, he was chairman of the United Russia party.

Gryzlov is Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). From March 2004 to December 2011 – Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.

Since December 2015, he has been the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Federation in the contact group for resolving the situation in Ukraine.

Since December 2016 – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tactical Missiles Corporation JSC.

Since March 2017 – Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Expert Institute for Social Research.
