Some 900 cases of COVID-19 per day are reported in Guayaquil.
Guayaquil this week exceeded the barrier of ten daily deaths from COVID-19, a figure that had not been recorded for months.
During the last weeks, deaths from coronavirus averaged five, but last week it peaked at seven.
The mayor of Guayaquil, Cynthia Viteri, confirmed this Thursday that deaths increased this week in the city. On Wednesday alone, 16 people died from COVID-19, Viteri said in a meeting with authorities from the Ministry of Health and the COE.

“The number of deaths increased, now we are at an average of 10.7 deaths per day,” he said.
The official said that in the last week 6,606 confirmed cases were reported in the city. This means about 900 cases of COVID-19 per day in Guayaquil.
The city has 151 occupied ICU beds and 245 hospital beds filled with coronavirus patients.
