The heads of the two departments of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region were dismissed after following a complaint from one of the entrepreneurs about illegal actions. This was reported by RBC with reference to a source close to the central office of the head office.
Heads of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption, as well as the Department of Own Security Yevgeny Ulyanov and Alexei Vasilyev have lost their posts, the source said.
In 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed several high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs from their posts at once. Some of the generals have lost their posts due to the fact that several years ago they vouched for the recent head of the Kamchatka police, who came under criminal prosecution, others are retiring, although they could still serve under the law. Two of the three deputy chiefs of the Moscow police, Natalya Agafieva and Andrei Ponorets, lost their posts, as well as two generals who held high posts in the central apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. One of them is the old-timer of the department Dmitry Sharobarov, who headed the Main Directorate for Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for more than ten years.
