Five people, including three soldiers on active duty, were detained for investigations, after elements of the Sidprobac (specialized police unit for the investigation of crimes against property) carried out an operation on the Buena Fe-Santo Domingo highway, near the 19:00 this Tuesday, January 11.
The Police report details that the suspects were circulating in a gray, double-cabin van, allegedly guarding a trailer that was carrying construction material known as an abridero.
After stopping the march of both vehicles, inside the truck, the police officers found two 9-millimeter pistols, 30 ammunition, and five grenades. The evidence was brought into a chain of custody and will serve as evidence in the investigations, it was said.
Among the detainees there is also another citizen identified as Kléver O., who, according to police data, has a criminal record for illegal activities related to mining.
Among the detained uniformed men there are two soldiers with the ranks of Cabos and a Captain of the Armed Forces, all of whom serve in the city of Machachi, which belongs to the province of Pichincha.
