The California Court of Appeal upheld the 2017 dismissal of two Los Angeles police officers who had been catching Pokémon while patrolling their neighborhoods in 2017, rather than helping colleagues in catching robbers. Reported by the Los Angeles Times.
The cops who went to court pleaded guilty for not answering the call about the impending robbery of the department store. But they claim that the video recording of their private conversations was misinterpreted. According to them, at the time of the call, they were not playing, but only “left the geotag about the location” in order to catch the Snorlax Pokemon in their free time. In addition, the former police officers tried to prove to the court that they did not hear the call signal due to the background noise.
The lawyer of the unlucky police officers who were dismissed for failing to comply with orders of their senior rank, evasion of direct duties and perjury, said that he would continue to defend his clients, demanding that they be reinstated at work.
