President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, speaking today before the deputies of the lower chamber of the country’s parliament (Mazhilis), announced a five-year moratorium on increasing the salaries of members of the government, heads of regions and deputies.
“I believe that the time has come to pay tribute to the people of Kazakhstan and help them on a systematic and regular basis,” PRIME quotes the president.
At the same time, he instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to determine the circle of companies and large oligarchs who will annually transfer funds to the social fund, created on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan.
Tokayev also ordered the government to develop and adopt a program to increase the incomes of the country’s population in two months, and to financial regulators to ensure the stability of the foreign exchange market until confidence in the tenge is fully restored.
In addition, the head of state assured that Kazakhstan will take all measures to restore investor confidence, and all obligations and state guarantees will be fulfilled.
The President also announced the need to combat illegal withdrawal of funds and instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to review the size of the recycling fee in the country.
