The Federal Penitentiary Service for the Irkutsk Region confirmed the death of two prisoners of the correctional colony in Angarsk

The Federal Penitentiary Service for the Irkutsk Region confirmed the information that one accused and one convict died in the hospital at IK-2 in Angarsk on January 6 and 9. At the same time, the jailers denied information about the death of the participants in the December protest action from starvation, Interfax reports.

Let us remind you that on December 29, three convicts in one cell began a hunger strike in protest against the demands of the regime and ended it on January 9.

IK-2 is a strict regime colony for those convicted of serious crimes. The common rooms of the cell type contain malicious violators of the regime.

On January 6, the accused was found with no signs of life in the hospital ward, and the doctors pronounced him dead. In the ward, the man was alone, the preliminary cause of death was suicide, the FSIN said. Then, on the night of January 9, the convict died from cardiovascular insufficiency with a serious illness.

On both facts, the department is checking, the information is transferred to the Investigative Committee.

The FSIN assured that the rumors that the “inmates” died due to the hunger strike were untrue and added that all those who were hungry “are eating again according to the schedule.”
