Iran began to pay compensation to the families of those killed in the downed Ukrainian Boeing

Relatives of those killed in the Ukrainian passenger plane, which was shot down by Iranian air defenses in January 2020, began to receive compensation. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the Iranian Ministry of Transport.

The Iranian Civil Aviation Administration noted that “some families received an amount of $ 150 thousand.”

Earlier it was reported that the Supreme Court of Ontario (Canada) ordered Iran to pay 107 million Canadian dollars ($ 84 million) to the families of six victims of the plane crash of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), shot down by the Iranian military near Tehran.

The Iranian military last year mistakenly shot down a Boeing 737 of Ukraine International Airlines, which was flying on the Tehran-Kiev route. Killed 167 passengers and nine crew members – citizens of Iran, Ukraine, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden and Afghanistan. On May 21, 2021, the court of the Canadian province of Ontario called the actions of the Iranian military who shot down the Boeing 737 of Ukraine International Airlines as a terrorist attack.
