Twelve people belonging to three families lost their homes this Thursday, the 6th, after a fire registered in the María Soledad sector, in the El Salto parish, belonging to Babahoyo.

The fact was alerted to the Fire Department around 4:00 p.m., who went to the site. Several neighbors indicated that the rescuers were late to control the emergency.

However, León Pablo Mancheno, head of the local Fire Department, indicated that those affected, when trying to control the fire alone, allowed the flames to spread due to their ignorance and after several minutes decided to call ECU911 and alert about the event .

“The difficult access to the sector also hinders our arrival, the material with which the cane and wood houses were built made the fire spread rapidly,” said Mancheno.

According to the report of the fire department, the fire did not cause deaths or injuries. However, the inhabitants of those houses lost all their belongings. The origin of the event has yet to be determined.
