Municipal brigades will collaborate again to speed up the vaccination process in the canton.
AMBATO
The health situation that marks an increase in cases in various locations in the country, including Ambato, motivates the making of new decisions to stop the circulation of the virus.
This is the case of the Ambato Emergency Operations Committee (COE), which adopted new resolutions this Wednesday, January 5.
The mayor of Ambato, Javier Altamirano, pointed out that the capacity in all types of shops, bars, discos, cinemas, theaters and others was reduced to 50%. In addition, in order to protect the level of contagion, he said that all natural and legal persons who carry out economic activities are urged so that upon entering their premises the presentation of a vaccination card with the two doses is required.
The measures also include the restriction in the opening hours in any type of business, maximum until 10:00 p.m. and vehicle circulation between 11:00 p.m. and 05:00 a.m., while the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in all commercial activity from 22:00 from Monday to Sunday.
“To urge, to a certain extent, demand the presentation of the vaccination card, but appealing to the citizen co-responsibility to carry the document, because that in some way guarantees us that that person is less likely to be infected,” said the mayor of Ambato about the measure related to the presentation of the document upon entry to places where people meet.
He said that in accordance with the request of the Ministry of Public Health, the agreement will be generated again for the municipal medical brigades to work to support vaccination.
He added that in a first agreement there were 37 groups and it is possible that they are the same or those considered by the State portfolio.
For his part, Héctor Cobo, head of the Risk Management unit (UGR) of the Municipality, said that the resolutions of the cantonal COE are in force from Friday 7 to 23 January.
In these previous days, the dissemination will be made so that the citizens are aware of the new restrictions and inter-institutional operations will be coordinated in order to comply with the measures.
He commented that this time the operations are going to be much more strict and recurrent, because it is planned to execute them during the week and at different times in order to verify compliance with the new regulations.
The official said that in Ambato there is an upturn in COVID infections, which in a week even exceeded 100 new infections and that this is a concern taking into account that these statistics would not include all the cases present in the city of Ambato. For this reason, the measures adopted by the cantonal COE aim to avoid the collapse of the health system.
In the Municipal Public Company of Potable Water and Sewerage of Ambato (Ep-Emapa) the vaccination card began to be requested from those who required attention in the entity, to which the users reacted accordingly. “This resolution of the cantonal COE is very good, so we are going to take care of each other,” said César Chicaiza.
Vinicio Analuisa also agreed with the request for the vaccination card, but warned that it should be required in all public and private places where citizens have access. (I)
