“How is it that I have to kill my brother, I cannot”: Kazakh cosmonaut called for the CSTO troops to enter the country

The first cosmonaut from Kazakhstan Toktar Aubakirov on the air of the state TV channel “Khabar 24” called on the authorities to resort to the help of the CSTO to resolve the situation with riots.

“If in Kazakhstan it turned out that we do not have enough strength to suppress it ourselves, then we regret, of course, this is right: how can I kill my brother, I cannot. Let us then resort to the help of those with whom we have concluded an agreement, that always, in all cases, when it will be difficult for me, you will help, please, and we will help you. And this treaty is the CSTO. Therefore, I think that if the CSTO troops enter here, it will not be superfluous, “Aubakirov said in a live broadcast of the Khabar 24 state channel.

A state of emergency has been introduced in Kazakhstan in connection with the riots that have engulfed the country. Initially, they had economic roots due to the sharp increase in the price of liquefied gas, but then the demands of the protesters became political. The authorities’ efforts to resolve the situation had no effect. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the Kazakh authorities did not ask for help from Russia.
