Psaki: Versions about US involvement in protests in Kazakhstan are an absolute lie

The White House categorically denies any involvement in the riots in Kazakhstan.

“There are some crazy Russian claims that the US is behind all this. Let me take this opportunity to state that this is an absolute lie and is clearly part of the standard temptation of Russian disinformation, ”said Jen Psaki, White House spokeswoman.

She also noted that the US authorities support calls for protesters to express themselves in peaceful ways, for the authorities to show restraint.

Earlier, similar calls were made to the EU and the UN.

In his address to the nation, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, stated that the protest activity in the country was allegedly initiated by some conspirators who act out of financial interest.

The Kazakh authorities have not yet turned to Russia for help, but on Wednesday evening, the first cosmonaut from Kazakhstan Toktar Aubakirov, on the air of the state TV channel “Khabar 24”, called on the authorities to resort to the help of the CSTO to resolve the situation with riots.

“If in Kazakhstan it turned out that we do not have enough strength to suppress it ourselves, then we regret, of course, this is right: how can I kill my brother, I cannot. Let us then resort to the help of those with whom we have concluded an agreement, that always, in all cases, when it will be difficult for me, you will help, please, and we will help you. And this treaty is the CSTO. Therefore, I think that if the CSTO troops enter here, it will not be superfluous, ”Aubakirov said.
