How to wash curtains? First of all, start with their proper preparation
In the case of soaking, the key is soaking, which may vary depending on the type of stain. Kitchen curtains, which often soak up fat, should be placed in water with washing-up liquid before washing. Clean, slightly warm water is enough for dusty curtains. Before putting it in the washing machine, the curtain should be folded into cubes and, if available, placed in a special laundry bag.
Home washing curtains will restore their whiteness
We set the curtains in the washing machine to a maximum of 30 degrees in the delicate or hand washing mode. Too warm water may deform the material or discolor it. Wanting us not to need strong and specialized measures. The best home remedies using products available in every kitchen:
- salt – soak the previously washed curtains in a mixture of 3 liters of water and 4 tablespoons of salt, then rinse them thoroughly and hang them to dry
- egg shells – put the eggshells in a linen bag and place them in the washing machine drum with curtains,
- baking soda – just sprinkle a teaspoon of baking soda for washing or for the last rinse,
- lemon juice – before washing, soak the curtains in water with lemon juice. After washing, hang them out in the sun.

the simplest methods will work. In this case, it means hanging the curtain directly on the curtain rod. However, the best time for this are cloudy days or evening hours. The sun’s rays can lead to yellowing of the fabrics – except if they were soaked in water with lemon juice before washing. This method allows you to avoid deformations and creases, thanks to which you will not have to iron the curtains.
