Grades:
- For the calculation of excess deaths, the figures from the Civil Registry published on this page were used. The data is updated on Mondays.
- For the weekly evolution of confirmed cases and deaths from COVID-19, the figures published by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) in this repository were taken. The data is updated on Wednesdays.
- For the maps of confirmed cases in the provinces, the figures published daily by the MSP in these reports were used. To calculate the rates, the population projection for 2021 designed by the MSP for the Vaccination Plan was used.
The daily update of the pandemic figures is carried out within the project “Disinformation in times of COVID-19”, which the newspaper EL UNIVERSO carries out together with the San Francisco de Quito University (USFQ), the Interuniversity Observatory of Ecuadorian Media ( OIME) and the Glass Code portal.
